Tempo di liste per i premi riferiti al 2012. A maggio, nel weekend tra il 16 e il 19, conosceremo i premi Nebula (dal 1966 assegnati a cura della Science Fiction & Fantasy Writers of America per le migliori opere scritte e cinematografiche. In lizza abbiamo due volte Joss Whedon candidato al premio Ray Bradbury per The Avengers e Quella Casa nel Bosco, e China Miéville con Railsea (candidato al premio Andre Norton per le opere di Fantascienza e Fantasy per giovani adulti).

Andrew Stanton lo troviamo in lizza per il premio Ray Bradbury con John Carter, il non fortunatissimo ma assai spettacolare film della Disney sull'eroe di Edgar Rice Burroughs.

La Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films presenta invece i suoi candidati per le migliori produzioni di genere in film e televisione (premi Saturn). La parte del leone la fa The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey di Peter Jackson con nove candidature, ovvero: miglior film fantasy, migliore regia (Peter Jackson), miglior attore (Martin Freeman), per il production design, la musica, i costumi, il trucco, gli effetti speciali, il miglior attore non protagonista (Ian McKellen). Per chiarire: il responsabile del production design, detto anche art director, è la persona responsabile per l'aspetto visivo generale di uno spettacolo.

Sono candidati anche i film di supereroi The Avengers e The Dark Knight Rises: Christian Bale se la vedrà per il titolo di miglior attore per il ruolo di Batman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt e Anne Hathaway partecipano alla selezione come miglior attore e attrice non protagonista. La Hathaway è in lizza per il medesimo premio anche per il ruolo svolto nel musical Les Miserables. Joss Whedon è, come per i Nebula, in gara per il titolo di miglior regista con The Avengers, e anche per la sceneggiatura. Candidati anche The Amazing Spider-Man, Biancaneve e il Cacciatore, Ruby Sparks, Cloud Atlas, The Hunger Games e altri.

Per quanto riguarda la televisione la parte del leone nelle candidature la fa Fringe. Non conosciamo ancora la data in cui i premi saranno assegnati.
